About the site
After creating
Qmailrocks.org, my site which documents the installation Qmail,
I decided to start playing around with Dan Bernstein's djbdns
DNS server application. Like qmail, I found djbdns to be simple,
yet elegant, and rock solid in terms of it's reliability and
security. It runs out of daemontools, so you know it will never
die unless someone unplugs the damn server. After getting my
djbdns wings and spending enough time "command line side" to know what I was doing, I then looked for a nice web interface
that would make the day to day DNS management tasks a breeze.
There are not a whole lot of these out there. Of the few that
I did find, I've found Vegadns to be my favorite. So, after
getting everything up and running, I decided to once again publish
my work on the Internet so that others can use it as a resource
when they embark on their own djbdns adventures. Have fun, and
good luck!
About the author
My name is Eric Siegel. I currently live and work out of Atlanta, GA as a freelance system administrator and enginner for large ecommerce based companies. Oddly enough, most of my clientele are in California. I am not an expert an djbdns. I don't claim to know everything there is to know about djbdns. Though I hope people find this guide useful, it is by no means a definitive and error-free guide to djbdns. I make mistakes, so always feel free to point them out to me. Making sites like this is a learning experience for me too, so I value any and all feedback as it helps me to constantly improve this site. |
